Our Milestones

March

Close to 300 nursing delegates from various public healthcare institutions, intermediate and long-term care institutions and nursing homes were hosted at our very first JurongHealth Nursing Symposium. The two-day symposium was centred around the theme “Building Capability for Quality and Safety”, and covered a range of topics such as providing quality care, inculcating best practices, patient safety, harnessing IT to improve patient care and work processes, and developing resilience in the nursing career and more. It provided a platform for nurses to gain insights into the latest trends and developments in healthcare practices and facilitated open discussion on the challenges and issues faced. It was an insightful learning session and the knowledge gained will certainly help to challenge standards in providing healthcare to the community.

March

NTFGH was proud to host our inaugural World Hearing Day Research Symposium in collaboration with Ear Science Institute Australia with the theme “Advancing Hearing Through Innovation & Research”. With the aim of tapping on everyone’s knowledge and years of experience in areas relevant to ear and hearing health, this symposium gathered people from various disciplines and organisations, including scientists, engineers, researchers, ENT surgeons, audiologists and other Allied Health Professionals. It was a fruitful exchange of research efforts, perspectives and ideas and we hope to see the sharing translate to positive clinical outcomes.

November

JurongHealth received the Landscape Excellence Assessment Framework (LEAF) certification from the National Parks Board for our hospitals, NTFGH and JCH, which recognises development projects with outstanding greenery. We were also recognised as one of the “Outstanding Projects” in 2016 ‒ a category showcasing developments that have raised the bar in urban greening excellence.

Under SGSecure, Exercise Heartbeat is an anti-terror training exercise conducted annually by the SPF and SCDF whereby simulated attacks are carried out for training, and for the community to be better prepared to prevent, react and recover in the event of a terrorist attack.

October

We achieved HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 on 7 October at the Singapore eHealth Innovation Summit 2016. We were the first hospital in Singapore and ASEAN, and fifth in Asia Pacific to receive the award – the highest level of an international benchmark that validates an advanced patient record environment, with pervasive use of IT, to improve patient care.

September

We unveiled our community mosaic wall – “Colours of Love” – at our Arts&Health Festival on 1 September. The 34.6m-long wall was created using 380,000 mosaic tiles, making it the largest ceramic mosaic artwork in the Singapore Book of Records. Located next to NTFGH – Tower A Clinics, the wall features our hospitals and the community. Together with local mosaic artist, Nanette Zehnder, the mosaic wall was co-created by JurongHealth Campus and the community for the community. Our patients, staff, visitors, etc. all had a hand in adding the touches of nature such as flowers, butterflies and hearts to complete the picture.
